Job summary

Open Energy Solutions Inc. is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to advance power systems analysis, modeling, and DER integration for utility-scale projects. The role blends research with practical field application, requiring collaboration with IT, development, and project management teams.

The engineer will perform Feeder modeling, transient studies, HIL simulations, and interconnection analyses, contributing to production-ready solutions and client deliverables.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or MS/PhD with emphasis on power systems
• Programming skills in Python, Rust, and/or C
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Support power systems engineering operations including distribution feeder modeling
• Develop and parameterize simulation models for feeders, microgrids, and DER inverters
• Perform power system transient studies and detailed equipment modeling
• Provide technical support for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations
• Apply IEEE 1547 requirements to interconnection studies and testing
• Support operation of medium voltage devices and system design
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations describing analyses and proposed solutions
• Contribute to proof-of-concept to production solution development
