Job summary

City of Austin’s Power Production and Electrical Services Delivery department seeks a Power System Graduate Engineer to perform steady state, short circuit, and economic assessments and support NERC, FERC, PUC and ERCOT compliance activities. Under limited supervision, you will design electric utility facilities including generation, substations, transmission and SCADA/EMS systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with emphasis on power systems or related field.
• Master's degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.
• Experience with power system studies and design software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist in standards, equipment specifications, design procedures, and test procedures.
• Perform power system studies (short circuit, load flow, reliability, stability).
• Develop drawings and documents for generation, transmission, distribution, substations, and SCADA/EMS.
• Assist in drawings, circuit maps, diagrams, and data management.
• Provide technical/financial inputs for electric utility projects and budget.
