Job description

GridStrong is a fast-growing leader in compliance automation for the modern grid. We combine deep power system modeling expertise, in both EMT and positive-sequence tools (PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, TSAT), with software that automates model testing, validation, and compliance studies. We help utilities and developers stay on top of their regulatory obligations, from interconnection studies through commercial operation and ongoing NERC compliance.

About the Role

We’re hiring power systems engineers with a strong background in power system dynamics at every level, from early-career engineers who want to grow fast to principal engineers ready to shape how the industry approaches automated modeling and compliance.

You’ll work on EMT and RMS modeling, dynamic performance analysis, and NERC and ISO/RTO compliance studies for inverter-based resources (wind, solar, and BESS) and large loads. What makes this role different is that you’ll also help build the tools that make the work faster and let it scale.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop, tune, and review EMT/RMS models for IBRs and large loads in PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, and TSAT, including PSS/E-to-TSAT-to-PSCAD benchmarking
  • Support or lead PRC-029 ride-through assessments, MOD-25/ Mod-26, and related NERC and ISO/RTO modeling studies across multiple jurisdictions (ERCOT, SPP, MISO, PJM, and others)
  • Contribute to GridStrong’s automated MQT and model review workflows
  • Work with our software and operations teams to turn engineering requirements into platform features
  • (Senior) Lead client engagements, mentor junior engineers, and define technical methodology
What You Bring
  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering with a power system focus (PhD a plus for Senior roles)
  • Strong model development skills in PSS/E, PSLF, TSAT, and PSCAD, including tuning and benchmarking
  • Familiarity with NERC reliability standards (PRC-029, MOD-026-2, …) and ISO/RTO interconnection processes
  • Strong communication skills; you’ll work directly and independently with clients
  • Enthusiasm for learning new topics and helping the company grow into new areas
  • Premium medical, vision, and dental coverage — full coverage for you and your family at almost no cost
  • Fully remote (US/Canada)
Why GridStrong
  • We’re a technical team moving fast on problems that matter to the grid. You’ll have real ownership, direct access to leadership, and the chance to build things that didn’t exist before.
