The Role

We are looking for a sharp electrical engineer with a passion for designing robust power infrastructure for mission-critical environments like data centers. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data center infrastructure. You will leverage your deep expertise in electrical studies, power modeling, and renewable energy integration to drive innovation and ensure unparalleled reliability.

This is a hybrid role based in our Ridgewood, NJ, or NYC (Union Square area) office.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Apply Your Expertise: Design, develop, and optimize power generation and distribution systems. Conduct load flow analyses, create and review electrical schematics, perform reliability assessments, and develop protection schemes.
  • Drive Innovation: Develop and implement plans for existing power generation technologies and evaluate new technologies while delivering up to five nines of reliability.
  • Shape our Power Analytics Roadmap: Define and implement solutions that enhance data center power quality and reliability through in-depth studies (load flow, transient capability, etc.) using tools like ETAP and PSCAD.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: Inspect, test, maintain, and troubleshoot power systems and related equipment. Conduct fault analysis and supervise installation, commissioning, and field testing.
  • Lead HV/MV/LV Power Strategy: Integrate and coordinate power systems from the grid down to the block level, ensuring top-tier customer uptime.
  • Provide Technical Oversight: Provide subject matter expertise across the technical work of multi-discipline engineers and designers.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Effectively work with internal and external teams on the design, build and compliance aspects of the project.
  • Ensure Quality and Compliance: Review and approve critical engineering drawings and calculations, adhering to relevant industry standards and codes (NEC, building codes).
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously update your knowledge of advancements in power systems engineering and new technologies.
The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • PE license is desired.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in microgrid or data center design and implementation, including renewable energy integration and energy storage systems.
  • 5+ years of practical experience utilizing power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, or similar).
  • 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on electrical studies, power modeling, and data center or other mission-critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals: reliability, load flow, short circuits, harmonics, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, losses, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of power generation and distribution systems.
  • Understanding of electrical equipment redundancy levels for Data Centers.
  • Experience with AI Data Center Power System design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of UPS electrical design requirements for Data Centers.
  • Understanding of Fault Tolerant design principles for Data Centers.
  • Proven ability to create and review electrical schematics, blueprints, and layout drawings; AutoCAD experience required.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., IEEE1547-2018, NEC 2020, NFPA 855).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting system reliability assessments.
  • Skilled in fault analysis and developing effective protection schemes.
  • Prefer candidates with knowledge of networking, SCADA and performance monitoring techniques.
  • Prefer candidates with knowledge of communication/signaling protocols.
  • Ability to interface effectively with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management.
