Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Junior/Intermediate Electrical Engineer for our Tampa, Florida office. You will assist in the design and drafting of power systems for transmission and distribution projects, preparing drawings and performing basic relay calculations under senior engineers.

This role requires a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, up to 6 years of relevant experience, and a willingness to travel about 5%.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 1-6 years of relevant experience in design and drafting for transmission and distribution projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience in MicroStation is an asset.
• Familiarity with substations up to 500kV.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and electrical design standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 5%.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, drafting, and review of power systems for transmission and distribution projects.
• Prepare and update engineering drawings, including single-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, communication diagrams, BOMs, and panel layouts.
• Perform basic protective relay calculations and fault studies under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Support the creation of protective relay settings for transmission and distribution systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and project specifications.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
