Legence is seeking a mid-level Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in Power and Energy Systems to design building and infrastructure projects. This hybrid role (3 days in office / 2 remote) is based in Long Beach, CA, and involves coordinating with architects, engineers, and clients on educational campuses and port facilities.

The ideal candidate has a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with Power & Energy focus, 3+ years in design, and proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power and Energy Systems or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical power systems design.
• Experience with NEC and medium voltage projects is a plus.
• Experience with infrastructure or port projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the design of electrical systems, including medium and low voltage power distribution.
• Perform field verification, site assessments, and system evaluations.
• Prepare construction documents, permit packages, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, and clients.
• Manage construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, and site visits.
• Conduct power system analysis, including arc flash and short‑circuit coordination.
• Work independently on infrastructure design projects with minimal supervision.
