Job summary

Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) in Jamaica, NY seeks an Engineer – Technical Process & Compliance for the Power department. The role develops, maintains, updates, and distributes procedures related to technical processes and regulatory requirements, monitors safety notices, and communicates them to management and field personnel.

The position focuses on field observations, audits, hazard analyses, and the development of training programs on Power topics requiring specialized knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; four years of substitution allowed
  • Minimum 8 years of practical electrical field experience in railroad/transit environments

Responsibilities

  • Train Power Department staff in construction, maintenance and repair per specs
  • Conduct field observations and audits; document compliance
  • Maintain training schedules and records for Power Department field employees
  • Monitor changes in safety and regulatory requirements; implement updates to standards
  • Audit PPE, including Arc flash protection, and ensure distribution
  • Respond to emergencies affecting train movement and participate in storm response
  • Perform other assignments as requested by Senior Management
