Job summary

GE Vernova's Applied Grid Innovation (AGI) team seeks a Power System Intern focused on foundational models in Bellevue, WA. You will contribute to research and prototyping efforts that blend power system expertise with AI to create intelligent grid solutions for utilities.

You will explore foundation models for grid operations, prototype AI-powered workflows, analyze data, and collaborate with engineers and AI researchers. May–Aug 2027 internship with housing and relocation support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or AI/ML.
• Understanding of power systems, energy systems, or electric utility operations.
• Experience with Python and data analytics.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts and generative AI technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Research emerging foundation models and large language models applicable to grid operations.
• Prototype AI-powered workflows for utility control room and engineering use cases.
• Evaluate in-house and external foundation model capabilities using real-world power system scenarios.
• Analyze operational datasets, engineering documents, and grid knowledge sources.
• Develop proof-of-concepts for intelligent search, question-answering, and decision support.
• Collaborate with power system experts, software engineers, and AI researchers.
• Document research findings and recommend future product opportunities.
• Present technical results to AGI leadership and product teams.
