Qualifications

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills; ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Application Evaluation: Perform hands-on testing of new Distribution Management applications to assess their functionality, reliability, and integration capabilities within our existing power system environments.
  • Test Development: Design and build comprehensive test cases to validate application performance, edge cases, and user requirements, ensuring all new features meet rigorous quality standards.
  • Deployment Feasibility: Analyze software requirements to determine if new applications can be deployed using standard industry tooling, specifically leveraging GitOps principles and ArgoCD for automated deployments within Linux-based environments.
  • Quality Assurance & Debugging: Stress test new products by identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs; collaborate with development teams to verify fixes and ensure seamless end-user experience.
  • Technical Documentation: Translate complex software features into user-friendly training materials, including technical guides, how-to videos, and internal knowledge-base articles for grid operators and engineers.

Role Overview:
We are looking for a motivated Electrical or Computer Engineering intern to join our team, focusing on the evaluation and validation of next-generation Distribution Management System (DMS) applications. In this role, you will play a key part in bridging the gap between innovative software development and real-world grid operations. You will evaluate new applications, ensure they meet industry deployment standards, identify technical defects, and help educate our user base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Evaluation: Perform hands-on testing of new Distribution Management applications to assess their functionality, reliability, and integration capabilities within our existing power system environments.
  • Test Development: Design and build comprehensivetest cases to validate application performance, edge cases, and user requirements, ensuring all new features meet rigorous quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • CI/CD & DevOps: Familiarity withJenkinsfor continuous integration and pipeline automation.
  • Artifact Management: Experience withNexusfor managing software components and dependencies.
  • Deployment: Exposure to or willingness to learnGitOpsworkflows andArgoCDfor Kubernetes-native deployment management.

Location: Bellevue, WA

Employment Dates: May 2027-August 2027

The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment.   • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.

  • GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
