Job summary

Bowman is seeking an Electrical Studies Engineer II to join our team remotely within the United States. You will focus on power system studies for solar and BESS projects, performing and coordinating analyses such as short circuit, load flow, grounding, and protection coordination using industry software.

PE license is preferred but not required, and collaboration with clients and engineers will be essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical studies including AC/DC short circuit, arc flash, load flow, grounding, protection coordination.
• Develop study scopes, methodologies, inputs and calculation packages for projects.
• Build, validate, and maintain electrical models for collector systems, substations, and inverter-based resources.
• Review inputs, results, and reports; provide QA/QC and technical feedback.
• Coordinate with PV/BESS design engineers, substations, OEMs, utilities to meet milestones.
• Identify issues and collaborate with clients and team to implement effective solutions.
• Generate Single Line Diagrams and interpret interconnection requirements for utilities.
• Report progress to senior managers on a regular basis and request needed support.
• Estimate time to perform tasks and apply engineering principles to designs.
• Oversee designs through construction/completion and ensure adherence to codes.
• Communicate with engineers, equipment manufacturers, and project partners effectively.
• Occasionally conduct field visits to document existing facilities.
• Organize multiple tasks to complete designs within milestones and budgets.
• Prepare project studies documents to meet milestones and hourly budgets.
• Attend coordination/design and weekly management meetings to align on project goals.
• Define and determine project scope and address client/authority comments; adjust designs as needed.
• Review construction admin items (shop drawings, RFIs, change orders) when directed.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
