Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Power System Controls Engineer to support the design, modeling, and validation of data center control ecosystems including battery energy storage systems and UPS, with a focus on AI-enabled, hyperscale facilities.

You’ll define how BESS operates with utility interfaces and onsite generation to meet interconnection, performance and safety requirements, collaborating with Jacobs’ global teams and clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BESS, power systems, grid integration, or mission-critical infrastructure.
• Experience with utility-scale plant controls, BESS sizing, and performance assessment.
• Knowledge of protective relaying and utility interfaces in facility operation.

Responsibilities

• Define AI data center plant control hierarchy and performance specs.
• Collaborate with controls and inverter manufacturers on latest tech.
• Develop integrated power system models on RMS/EMT platforms.
• Perform studies from BESS sizing to transient analysis.
• Support commissioning, testing, and client reporting; manage scope and risks.
