Job summary

Mississippi Power is seeking a Power System Coordinator (Transmission System Operator) to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the Bulk Power Transmission System at MPC. Responsibilities include minute-by-minute monitoring, system analysis, restoration actions, switching orders, and N-1 contingency studies.

The role requires strong safety awareness, excellent communication, and the ability to work under extreme time constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is desirable (not required) and may be considered in lieu of experience.
• A thorough understanding of the operation of an electric system is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Minute-to-minute monitoring and control of the bulk electric power system under normal conditions.
• Analyze and evaluate the system, determine restoration actions, and implement those actions under abnormal conditions.
• Write and execute switching orders, directing field employees performing switching operations.
• Monitor real-time and perform future studies for N-1 contingency solutions.
• Adhere to NERC compliance standards and maintain current knowledge of requirements.
