Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Power Supply Analyst to support the North America Power team with planning, cost analysis, data management, and market analytics for refinery and industrial electricity needs.

The role requires handling large datasets, understanding operational details, and helping the business optimize electricity procurement, tariffs, and market exposure across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline required.
• Four or more years of experience in the electric power and/or natural gas industry required.
• Experience with large datasets, spreadsheets, or market data preferred.
• Exposure to power procurement, settlements, utility bills or tariffs is a plus.
• Familiarity with North American power markets (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO) is helpful.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to identify trends and cost changes.
• Experience with data tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, VBA) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support power supply planning for refinery and industrial electricity needs across North America.
• Track facility load, electricity consumption, cogeneration output, imports/exports, outages, and utility needs.
• Collect, clean, organize, and validate load data, utility data, ISO/RTO data, market data, and operating data.
• Assist with load forecasting using historical usage, weather, and refinery plans.
• Review electricity bills, tariffs, riders, demand charges, and transmission charges.
• Identify unusual charges, data gaps, and settlement issues; seek reduction opportunities.
• Maintain recurring reports for electricity cost, facility exposure, load trends, and market drivers.
• Support power procurement analysis including fixed price, indexed, renewable, and demand options.
• Track utility rate cases, tariff changes, and regulatory developments.
