Job description

Nokia is looking to hire a Power Supply Engineer to join our US Product Development team. Our team is responsible for developing the next generation 5G network radios for our global customer base.



Our team is responsible for 5G BTS (Base Transceiver Station) development and is looking for a design engineer to participate in the development of a cellular base station. Considering both experienced and those willing to explore new areas. In this job, you will:

  • Design, simulate, test, and document the performance of power supplies as part of a larger Network Radio design team.
  • Design responsibilities could be in any of the following areas: power supply layout, power supply simulation, Lightning protection, Conducted Emissions, developing power supplies for transmitters, receivers, power amplifiers, RF Synthesizers, Antenna/bias systems.
  • Candidates must have the ability to implement hardware designs based on board, module, and radio level requirements. Daily tasks will include circuit level power design and development, circuit simulation/design, component selection, prototyping and testing. Candidates must also be adept at technical writing, writing software to control instruments and documentation tasks. Candidates will also be required to support related project RF design activities by participating in design reviews and technical information exchange sessions. Candidates will be required to work in close cooperation with other design engineers and specialists for design work.
  • Familiar with Power Design, Analog Design and Power test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, signal generators, power meters, electronic loads, etc.). Soldering is a plus along with familiarity with Simplis and LTspice are recommended.

Opportunities to grow into roles with more responsibility, such as unit integrator and chief engineer, as competencies and experience increase.


Required skills:

  • MS + 3 years in Electrical Engineering or Physics with coursework in RF or Microwave technology preferred. BSEE + 5 years of applicable internship experience is also acceptable.
  • Knowledge of RF Circuit Design from applicable coursework or job experience is a major plus.
  • Good theoretical and practical understanding of basic RF Engineering and general principles, including digital modulation and demodulation.
  • Experience with analytical simulation / analysis tools such as Matlab and Python would be very helpful.
  • Positive attitude, and experience working in a team environment

It would be nice if you also had

  • Previous Nokia co-op experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical leadership potential is a plus.
  • Good planner and organizer.
  • Adept Problem Solver
  • Ability to travel internationally at short notice if needed (overall travel expected to be less than 10%).
