Aircraft Mechanic II (Power Plants) (Finance)
Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022):
Aircraft Mechanics II must have experience repairing engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet assigned missions. They provide input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD), and assist in recommending changes to (MWO). They must prioritize workloads and lead teams through complex aircraft tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and I. They maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts. They interpret technical documentation such as blueprints and manuals, troubleshoot aircraft components, and perform repairs and replacements. They must have knowledge of aircraft tools, technical publications, and maintenance procedures. Guidance is provided by supervisors or senior technicians, and they may lead teams or make log entries. They should be able to prioritize work to meet schedules and may specialize in areas like sheet-metal, electric work, or avionics.
Skills and Knowledge: Must troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft systems, perform organizational and limited depot level maintenance, and possess expertise in one or more aircraft systems, especially Power Plants and Sub-Systems. They should be familiar with technical directives, NAMP programs, supply procedures, and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation. They are responsible for control and coordination of maintenance and must understand maintenance manuals and records.
Responsibilities: Perform diagnosis, repairs, disassembly, inspection, and modifications following procedures. Determine necessary repairs or modifications, verify work, and ensure compliance with directives. Occasionally lead teams, process maintenance documentation, coordinate aircraft moves, and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on F/A-18 A-D aircraft. Tasks include troubleshooting, using tools and diagnostic equipment, repairing components, interpreting manuals, conducting confined space operations, supporting equipment inspections, requisitioning parts, maintaining work areas, and performing shift work or overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Over 7 years of F/A-18 A-D maintenance experience, Naval Aviation Maintenance Control Management course, collateral duty QA role, corrosion control, and previous certification as F/A-18 Plane Captain.
Basic Qualifications: At least 4 years of F/A-18 maintenance experience, ability to work shifts, climb ladders, handle small parts, deploy for exercises, and pass background checks for security clearances. Must be eligible for a CAC.
Compensation: $41.28/hour
Other Benefits: Minimum health and welfare fringe of $4/hour for up to 40 hours/week. Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, holidays, and paid vacation after one year.
