The YMCA of Central New York is seeking a Power Scholars Teacher to support its mission by delivering literacy and math instruction to elementary students during the summer program at Northeast Community, Kirk Park or Schiller Park. Work Schedule: Training 6/22 9 am-2 pm; 7/8 - 8/9 Mon-TH 8 am - 1 pm with some Fridays 8 am - 1 pm
Salary Range: $31.67/hour

Position Summary:
This position supports the mission and work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization. Under the direction of the Director of Education, the Power Scholars Teacher will ensure that the YMCA meets the needs of its members in the safest and most enjoyable atmosphere. The Teacher is responsible for focusing on summer learning loss by planning and executing instructional plans for low-income children living in urban communities and thereby enhancing overall youth development, academic performance, and graduation rates. The incumbent will teach, enrich, inspire, and transform children into scholars. The Teacher communicates and creates collaborative relationships with students, parents/guardians, Assistant Teachers, and other significant staff members. The Teacher provides leadership and assures the well-being for all, in line with YMCA of the USA guidelines and Association policies.

This job operates in a recreational and/or educational environment. This role routinely uses standard recreation and/or office equipment. At times, employees may be exposed to undesirable working conditions, communicable infectious diseases, and risk of injury from others. All employees are required to always follow the preventative health policies of the YMCA. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
