Job summary

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Business Applications Developer to join our software development team. You will combine your functional and technical expertise to improve business processes and service delivery for internal and external customers.

You will design, develop, and maintain business applications across the Microsoft 365 Power Platform, collaborating with clients and Student Affairs IT staff to ensure secure, scalable solutions that meet business needs and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in software development
• Strong understanding of business application development and implementation
• Strong knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, SharePoint, Dataverse, and Teams
• Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Dataverse
• Experience in developing business applications using the Microsoft Power platform and C# or Java
• Familiarity with Power FX, HTML, CSS, XML, and JSON formatting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of developers to design, develop, and maintain business applications
• Create custom solutions for clients using the Microsoft 365 Power platform
• Work with clients to understand business needs and design solutions
• Develop applications that integrate with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem
• Coordinate with Student Affairs IT staff to ensure IT resources are secure and properly managed
