Job summary

Qualifications

• High School or GED with 4 years related experience or 2 years plus 2-year degree in Power/Industrial Technology.
• Experience in disassembly/reassembly and alignment of centrifugal pumps up to 3,000 HP preferred.
• Experience with gate valves, control valve trim, butterfly valves; preferred.
• Experience operating cutting torches and/or arc welding preferred.
• Experience with heavy rigging and material handling preferred.
• Machining experience with milling machines and lathes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Estimates starting time for idle generation units and follows startup procedures to bring units on line.
• Operates PC-based control systems as Inside Operator in the Steam Plant.
• Changes turbine/generator loading from the control systems.
• Reads meters and records data in logs/computers.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment and maintains plant logs and MAXIMO work orders.
• Maintains plant operating history and completes required documentation.
• Directs work of other operators on shift and ensures safety compliance.
