Job summary

American Electric Power in Texas is seeking a Plant Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support for safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation. You will monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with operations, maintenance, and vendors.

The role requires ABET-accredited degree with experience; PE license preferred; base salary range with competitive benefits and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree required with 2+ years' related experience, or military equivalent.
Master's degree holders may enter at the Sr level.
Alternative: non-ABET bachelor’s with ABET master/PhD or engineering tech degree.

Responsibilities

Diagnose equipment and system issues and support startups and shutdowns.
Perform structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis to improve reliability.
Monitor plant data to identify performance gaps affecting heat rate and efficiency.
Support reliability and condition monitoring programs with proper data interpretation.
Maintain drawings, procedures, and Change documentation for compliance.
Coordinate capital projects with vendors, contractors and internal teams.
Ensure compliance with regulatory codes and audit readiness.
