Job summary

Indeck-Yerkes Facility in Tonawanda, NY is seeking a Power Plant Operator to manage combined cycle power plant operations. The role requires handling gas and steam turbines, high-pressure steam and boiler systems, with emphasis on safety, reliability, and environmental care.

Strong mechanical, welding or electrical aptitude is a plus, and the candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Power plant experience is a plus.
• Must be able to work in the United States without employer support or sponsorship.
• Respirators and safety equipment are required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, adjust and control power production equipment for safe, legal, and efficient operation.
• Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Perform repairs and assist others in repairing equipment.
• Monitor treated water systems and keep within prescribed limits.
• Maintain journals, logs and equipment records.
• Rotate shifts and possibly work overtime.
