Job summary

AEP is seeking an entry-level Operator Helper in Oologah, OK to assist equipment operators and learn plant operations. You will isolate, inspect, and maintain plant equipment, follow safety rules, and contribute to daily outage and startup tasks under supervision.

Qualified candidates have a two-year associate degree in power plant tech or related field, plus related experience or military experience; POSS completion preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in power plant technology or equivalent required.
• POSS testing completion required or recommended for candidate.
• State driver’s license required and ability to obtain company certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist equipment operators and learn to isolate, inspect, and service plant equipment.
• Monitor and report abnormal conditions; write work orders as needed.
• Perform routine cleaning and lubrication of plant systems and equipment.
• Support in preparing boilers and auxiliaries for operation and removal from service.
• Work rotating shifts and be available for call-outs as required.
