Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an Equipment Operator Jr to perform semi-skilled manual work, maintenance and operating duties in a power plant environment. Duties vary by line of progression through Operations, Maintenance or Coal Yard.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent experience, a valid state driver’s license, and ability to work rotating shifts in a safety-conscious team. Base salary starts from $31.33/hr with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering, industrial or energy technology, or equivalent experience.
• Associate degree in another discipline plus two years of related work experience.
• High school diploma with four years of related work experience or two years of related military experience.

Responsibilities

• Isolate, clean, inspect and return to service strainers, heat exchangers and dust collectors.
• Operate and maintain portable power tools and equipment; keep work areas clean and orderly.
• Operate ash handling equipment and monitor plant equipment for normal operation; report abnormal conditions.
