Job summary

Public Service Co. of OK in Tulsa, OK is seeking an entry-level Operator Helper to learn plant operations by assisting equipment operators and performing routine maintenance tasks. You will isolate, inspect, and return to service plant equipment, monitor water chemistry and assist with boiler preparation.

You will also operate plant auxiliary systems, perform minor maintenance, manage tools and materials, and participate in rotating shifts with safety training and in the event of emergencies.

Qualifications

• Two year Associate degree in power plant technology, industrial technology, engineering technology or equivalent.
• Equivalents: Associate degree in another discipline with two years related work experience, or high school diploma with four years related work experience, or high school diploma with two years related military experience.
• Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) is required.
• Possess an appropriate State driver's license.
• Must satisfactorily complete training to advance to Equipment Operator and qualify for Equipment Operator 1st Yr within three months.
• Must be available to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends, and for call-out.

Responsibilities

• Assist equipment operators while learning job duties.
• Isolate, clean, inspect, replace, and return to service plant equipment.
• Operate and maintain plant auxiliary systems.
• Monitor equipment and report abnormal conditions; write work orders.
• Prepare boilers and auxiliaries for operation and removal from service.
• Perform routine cleaning of plant areas and equipment; assist with tools and material handling.
• Use flow diagrams to identify systems and update prints as required.
