Job Description Summary
At GE Aerospace’s On Wing Support test facility in Pittsburgh, PA, we are seeking a Borescope Inspector who will conduct critical inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of aircraft engines to ensure safety, reliability, and performance. The role requires hands‑on engine maintenance expertise, certified inspection experience, and strong borescope inspection capability. Key Responsibilities
- Execute borescope inspections per technical references, Repair Station Manuals, and GE policies.
- Validate criteria, record measurements, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Possibly hold CRS (Certificate of Release to Service) privileges.
- Review and interpret test and inspection data to detect abnormalities, assess engine health, and recommend next steps.
- Document all work performed and record time using the site’s ERP software (SAP).
- Partner with EHS, quality, engineering, planning, and materials to support operational initiatives and root‑cause corrective action.
- Assist with engine testing and troubleshooting to identify issues, validate engine condition, and support critical maintenance decisions.
- Support engine test execution and resolve testing issues through problem‑solving tools and GE procedures.
- Perform supplementary shop and housekeeping duties as part of the 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.
- Maintain inspection equipment, tooling, and workspaces for efficient, compliant operations.
- Produce accurate, detailed maintenance and inspection records that support quality standards and regulatory compliance.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of hands‑on experience with advanced inspection and engine test equipment.
- 1+ years of leadership experience, guiding teams and driving execution.
- FAA Powerplant License (required).
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience with commercial high‑bypass turbofan engine testing, including engine prep, de‑prep, testing in a test cell or on‑wing line maintenance, and LRU removal/installation.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft engine systems, components, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, blueprints, and inspection criteria.
- Experience identifying defects, assessing engine condition, and using inspection tools and methods for accurate evaluation.
- Hands‑on support of engine test cell operations and familiarity with turbine engine troubleshooting and performance analysis.
- Experience serving as a Test Throttle Operator or Engine Test Site Operator.
- Operational experience with support equipment such as fork trucks, overhead cranes, transporters, and tugs.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Oasis, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, quality, and execution excellence.
- Clear and effective communication and documentation skills.
