Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota is seeking an Operations Instructor responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of operator training. Delivery occurs in classroom and simulator environments to meet accredited processes and regulatory requirements.

The role supports the SAT process, maintains training programs and CAP, and assists with onboarding contract staff during outages. Collaboration with instructors and Operations teams is essential to success.

Qualifications

• RO or SRO license or SRO Certification preferred.
• Experience with power plant operations and related disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to teach varied class sizes to entry-level knowledge.
• Good organizational and administrative skills for accredited training.
• Able to work independently and in teams with minimal supervision.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design training for operator programs including non-licensed and licensed operators.
• Develop and conduct classroom and/or simulator training and examinations.
• Pursue and maintain qualifications such as SRO Certification.
• Assist with self-assessments and evaluations of training programs.
• Assist with onboarding contract staff for plant outages.
• Support plant refueling outages by transitioning to staff.
• Function as a member of the site's Emergency Response Organization.
