Job summary

Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC - The Reliable One) seeks a Technical Trainer (Electric) to lead the planning and delivery of specialized training for power production operations and maintenance. You will design curricula, author manuals, and provide hands‑on and classroom instruction aligned with industry standards.

Apprentice progression and competency assessment will be part of your remit, partnering with operations and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred (Business/Instructional Design/Education/Org Development).
• Minimum 7 years in electrical power generation field.
• Minimum 2 years in Power Plant Operations or maintenance.
• Experience with generators 5–4300 kW preferred.
• OSHA safety training preferred or must obtain OSHA within 1 year.
• State of Florida valid driver's license; CDL if necessary.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and refinement of technical training curriculum for power production operations and maintenance.
• Deliver classroom and field instruction using multiple modalities.
• Build on‑the‑job training and continuing education programs.
• Conduct training needs analyses and data‑driven improvements.
• Provide instructor‑led product training on tools and equipment affecting operations.
• Develop and approve courses and curricula for progression training.
• Oversee training delivery and maintain documentation for compliance.
