Job summary

NRG Energy in Nipton, CA invites experienced Millwrights to maintain and repair power plant equipment at the Ivanpah Generating Station. You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, read mechanical drawings, and coordinate material needs while working outdoors in a demanding environment.

This role requires five years of industrial mechanical experience, safety mindedness, and the ability to operate shop tools and lifting gear. The position offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Journeyman-level Millwright or Mechanic training preferred.
• Training in laser alignment equipment is a plus.
• Experience with portable vibration monitoring equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, inspect and repair generating station equipment such as boilers, turbines, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, vessels and related vehicles.
• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and report findings to supervisor.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Replace packing in pumps and valves, bearings, shaft seals and other parts.
• Remove insulation materials on pumps, heaters, tanks, turbines, lines and valves.
• Set up rigging for installing/removing equipment.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings to identify parts and spares.
• Operate hand tools and precision devices as needed.
• Document work performed and complete required records.
• Follow safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
