Job summary

AlphaGen is hiring an Instrumentation and Controls Technical Supervisor to oversee day-to-day plant activities and electrical maintenance at the Astoria Generating Station. The role focuses on supervising technicians, coordinating corrective and preventive maintenance, and ensuring safe, compliant operations in a power plant environment.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years supervisory experience, strong knowledge of control systems (DCS/PLC/BMS), and the ability to work on-call for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Min 3 years supervising or engineering experience in power/utilities.
• Knowledge of power utility standards and safety practices.
• Ability to read schematics and P&IDs and mark up prints.
• Understanding of plant control system design, maintenance, testing, or analysis.
• Experience with instrumentation calibration and electrical testing.
• Familiarity with HV/LV switchgear and transformers.
• Proven leadership and strong communication skills.
• Willing to work 24/7 on-call for emergencies.
• B.Sc. in Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day production activities and electrical maintenance.
• Lead and supervise union technicians, ensure safe, compliant work.
• Direct troubleshooting and enforce contractual work requirements.
• Support 24x7 operation; be available for start-ups and shutdowns.
• Provide on-the-job training and safety briefings.
• Plan schedule work: Corrective, Preventive, and Conditioned-based.
• Coordinate with Transmission Operator for testing and repairs.
• Ensure technicians receive training for their roles.
