Job summary

City of Independence is seeking a Facility Maintenance Supervisor for the Power and Light Department. This role oversees day‑to‑day facility and equipment maintenance activities and leads a team to ensure efficient operation of the power plant.

The supervisor will manage safety training, scheduling, and evaluations, while coordinating with management on budgets and maintenance programs to keep the facility running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Four years of experience in above or related duties.
• Equivalency acceptable with education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise scheduling and day‑to‑day activities of facility maintenance staff.
• Coordinate maintenance of building and mechanical systems and equipment.
• Prepare status reports, budgets, and work progress updates.
• Ensure compliance with safety, training, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in development and monitoring of maintenance programs and projects.
• Oversee fuel handling and electrical equipment maintenance in the power plant.
