Job summary

NRG Energy’s Environmental Specialist role supports the development and implementation of strategies to keep the WA Parish Generating Station compliant with environmental laws and corporate policies. The position updates databases, prepares filings, and coordinates activities as the station representative.

Responsibilities include air quality data analysis, NSR/permitting work, and supporting compliance audits while collaborating with plant operations on environmental projects and best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related science or engineering discipline, or high school diploma with 5 years of relevant environmental experience.
  • Exposure to power plant environmental programs and regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain EPA Method 9 certification and TCEQ licenses may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Support compliance activities for air quality data analysis and reporting, permitting, and NSR applications.
  • Coordinate data collection and submission to environmental reporting programs and audits.
  • Interact with plant operations to support compliance reviews and implement best practices.
  • Respond to environmental system upsets with data collection and analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate testing programs with regulatory notifications and on-site personnel.
