Job summary

NRG Energy seeks an Environmental Specialist/Engineer to support compliance across regional and plant operations. You will evaluate data, inspections, permits, and regulatory requirements to ensure adherence to laws and NRG standards, while contributing to environmental events and corporate initiatives.

The role involves QA of emissions and water monitoring data, collaboration with site teams, and ongoing development of data handling skills across software systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related discipline with 2+ years in environment OR Associate's with 4+ years OR Master's in engineering/science.
  • General knowledge of major environmental laws (CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA) and related regs.
  • Familiarity with industrial plant operations and environmental compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support and document facility inspections and compliance certifications; participate in regulatory inspections.
  • Evaluate test reports and data for compliance with environmental standards.
  • Coordinate QA reviews of emissions data from CEMS and updates monitoring plans.
  • Assist with new environmental permits and regulatory filings.
  • Support corporate environmental initiatives and stewardship programs.
  • Maintain and document regulatory compliance across plants.
