Job summary

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is seeking a junior or rising senior in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering for a summer 2027 Power Plant Engineering Internship in the Austin, TX area. Relocation stipend available to help cover housing during the summer.

• Prepare reports, operating instructions and project outlines in connection with engineering assignments. Follow appropriate business procedures, and apply project management techniques.

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) has been serving Texans since 1934, when the state Legislature tasked us with improving life across the region. We have an opening for a junior or rising senior with an Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering background to work as a power plant engineering intern for the summer of 2027 in the Austin, TX area. Ready to make your impact?

How You’ll Contribute

• Perform a variety of progressively responsible engineering assignments involving engineering principles, under the limited supervision of a licensed professional engineer
• Contribute to engineering projects involving adaptations and modifications to Power Plant systems, equipment, materials and procedures.
• Contribute to tests and diagnosis and evaluation of equipment performance for power plants.
• Prepare reports, operating instructions and project outlines in connection with engineering assignments. Follow appropriate business procedures, and apply project management techniques.

How You’re Qualified

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program in junior year or has completed junior year and will be starting senior year.
