Job summary

Vistra is hiring an Auxiliary Operator III for our plant in Kincaid, Illinois. This entry-level developmental role provides training under experienced operators and supervisors.

The position includes a pay rate of $42.47 per hour, with eligibility for employee and dependent medical, dental, and vision insurance. The role involves operating boiler auxiliary equipment, performing electrical switching up to 4000 volts, and supporting safety and environmental training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior operations or maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of power plant fundamentals (chemistry, physics, electricity, math) preferred.
• Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift.
• Work environment may require respirator use.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• May work in extreme temperatures and confined spaces.
• POSS/MASS program candidacy required to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation of boiler auxiliary equipment and systems.
• Support higher level operators with complex tasks.
• Perform electrical switching up to 4000 volts.
• Assist with housekeeping, lubrication, and light maintenance.
• Support station fire brigade as needed.
• Perform start-up, shutdown, and normal operation activities.
• Complete required safety and environmental training.
• Operate station vehicles as needed.
• Respond safely to abnormal operating conditions.
