Job summary

Washington City is seeking an Apprentice Power Lineman to learn and perform apprentice-level electrical line duties within our Power Department.

The role encompasses installation, maintenance, and emergency response for overhead and underground distribution, with on-site training and safety requirements. A strong grounding in electrical basics and willingness to learn will be essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience with power line work preferred.
  • Must become certified journeyman power lineman within four years.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform apprentice-level tasks related to power system installation, distribution, transmission and maintenance.
  • Perform construction, installation, maintenance and repair of substations and circuits for overhead and underground lines.
  • Assist in connecting, installing, maintaining and repairing energized power distribution and transmission lines; operate line trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Respond to outages, restore power, inform the public of pending outages and assist with temporary power connections.
  • Maintain inventory of instruments, meters and related equipment; perform routine testing and calibration on electrical instruments.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties to ensure safe, reliable power delivery and conduct safety meetings.
