Job summary

Livewire seeks a highly skilled Lead Power Limited Technician (PLT) to lead field installations for audio, video, and low-voltage lighting systems in North Dakota and Minnesota. You will ensure NEC and MN statutes compliance and mentor junior technicians on job sites.

Responsibilities include bench repair coordination, technical support for live events, and planning for future permanent installations across ND/MN. A valid PLT license and 4+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Active PLT license issued by MN DLI and North Dakota State Electrical Board.
• 4+ years in low-voltage AV or lighting control integration.
• Experience leading teams on field installations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of audio/video signal flow, DMX/lighting control protocols, and IT networking.

Livewire seeking a highly skilled and versatile Lead Power Limited Technician (PLT).

This is a dynamic, high-impact role designed for a low-voltage professional who thrives on variety.

Beyond leading field installations for audio, video, and automated lighting systems, you will ensure our company’s code compliance, mentor junior technicians, assist with equipment repair, and direct planning for future permanent installation work in North Dakota and Minnesota.

Key Responsibilities

1. Integration & Field Leadership

• Lead field installation projects for commercial audio, video, low-voltage lighting systems, and integrated control platforms.
• Perform physical wiring, equipment rack fabrication, system terminations, signal testing, and system commissioning.
• Direct and mentor unlicensed technicians on job sites in compliance with Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) and North Dakota State Electrical Board standards.

2. Responsible Licensed Individual (RLI) Duties

• Serve as the designated Responsible Licensed Individual for Livewire’s MN Technology System Contractor license.
• Ensure all technology system installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Minnesota State Electrical Rules.
• Pull required electrical inspection requests, coordinate with state/local inspectors, and maintain regulatory compliance documentation.

3. Bench Repair & Shop Operations

• In coordination with wider repairs and install team, diagnose, repair, and service audio equipment, video gear, lighting fixtures, and power distribution units in our shop during non-install windows.
• Maintain bench testing tools, diagnostic rigs, and assist with shop inventory.

4. Live Event & Production Support

• Occasionally assist with temporary power distribution, signal routing, temporary rig setups, and technical execution for live event projects and temporary show setups.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licenses: Active Power Limited Technician (PLT) licenses issued by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (Required) and North Dakota State Electrical Board.
• Experience: 4+ years of experience in low-voltage, AV, or lighting control integration; team leadership experience is strongly preferred.

Technical Proficiency:

• Strong working knowledge of audio/video signal flow, DMX/lighting control protocols, and IT network architecture.
• Hands-on experience with equipment repair, soldering, multimeter diagnostics, and component-level troubleshooting.
• Experience with control platforms (e.g., Symetrix, Kramer, Lutron, Control4, Crestron, or Savant) is a major plus.
• Code Knowledge: Thorough understanding of MN Statutes § 326B and NEC standards for technology systems.
• General: Valid MN driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders, scaffolding, or lifts as required.

Base Compensation:

$65,000 – $85,500+ per year, depending on experience.
