Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, seeks a Service Manager to lead a major maintenance enterprise within the Power/HVAC Division. You’ll hire and coach a team of Service Technicians and Equipment Associates, maintaining and repairing a wide range of specialty rental equipment to keep it safe and rental-ready.

You’ll work closely with the Branch Manager to build a profitable location, applying strong leadership, service standards, and business management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of operations and shop management experience with background in repairing and maintaining the equipment stated above.
• Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems.
• Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment, warranty processes, and work order accounting.
• Experience on diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems for independent assessment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong leadership and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in maintenance accounting and P&L.
• Basic computer skills (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Supervise the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment including silent diesel generators, air-cooled chillers, and more.
• Motivate, coach and train technicians to meet time and quality standards and follow repair processes.
• Supervise Service Technicians, ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed.
• Build strong customer relationships through high quality and timely service.
• Apply United Rental policies to maximize productivity while maintaining a safe, organized facility.
• Manage shop operating expenses.
• Lead, plan, measure and continuously improve service and maintenance performance metrics.
• Meet regularly with Branch Managers to discuss problems and solutions.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
