Job summary

Xcel Energy offers a summer internship with the Grid Operations Engineering team in Texas, providing hands-on experience in power system operations and ADMS software.

As a current ABET‑accredited program student (Electrical preferred), you will support model tuning, alarm limits, outage coordination tools, and data tasks, with a hybrid in-person work arrangement and a May 24, 2027 start date.

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in ABET-accredited college pursuing an Engineering degree.
• Electrical engineering preferred but not required.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week).

Responsibilities

• Supporting model tuning and tracking non-communicating devices.
• Assisting with alarm limits and special projects within Grid Operations Engineering.
• Working with staff to support Distribution Control Center and ADMS software.
• Performing entry-level engineering analyst tasks supporting tools, programs, and databases for outage coordination and power system monitoring.
• Gaining practical operations experience and professional development.
