Job summary

Stewart & Stevenson, based in Houston, TX, is seeking a Power Generation Field Service Technician III to identify abnormalities on customer sites and perform complex repairs. You will diagnose ATS and generator control issues, order parts, and perform routine maintenance using diagnostic tools and test equipment.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED with 3–7 years of related experience and a technical certification in automotive, lift truck, heavy equipment, or diesel engines.

Qualifications

  • Technical certification in automotive, lift truck, heavy equipment, or diesel engines required.
  • Ability to operate and interpret diagnostic tools and software.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with power generation equipment, including ATS and generator controls.
  • Recommend repairs and order parts to complete service.
  • Perform repairs and replace equipment as needed.
  • Conduct routine maintenance per guidelines and schedules.
  • Use multimeters, ampmeters, and megohmeters for diagnosis and repair.
  • Perform load tests with load bank equipment and ATS controls.
  • Assist junior technicians and maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Work at customer sites or shop environments following safety standards.
