Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical EIT/Designer to join our power generation electrical/control group in Charlotte, NC. This role supports design packages for hydro, solar, coal and other facilities, including protection upgrades and control system improvements.

You will work under senior engineers, perform power system studies, and develop I/O lists while becoming proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation. HDR values inclusion and employee ownership, offering growth and collaboration across projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate or willingness to obtain.
Experience with Power Market Sector design software (ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation).

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed design packages for new and modified power generation facilities (Hydro, Solar, Coal, Simple Cycle, and Combined Cycle).
Include relay protection upgrades, plant control system upgrades and equipment sizing.
Work on projects with clear objectives and limited variables.
Perform load flow, short circuit, grounding and arc flash studies.
Specify major equipment such as generators, transformers, motors, switchgear, MCCs, PLC/DCS.
Develop I/O lists and interface with plant control systems.
Assist from kickoff through close-out and as-built drawings; CAD proficiency.
