Job summary

Elliot Engineering, a employee-owned engineering firm, seeks a Power Engineer II to support electrical distribution, transmission, substation, and power system studies under the direction of senior engineers. You will work with project teams to develop designs, perform calculations, and deliver well-supported engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities include preparing designs up to 34.5 kV, conducting studies, creating diagrams, and coordinating with clients and utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 1 year of progressive experience in electrical distribution design or related areas.
• Experience applying electrical engineering principles to power-system design and evaluation.
• Knowledge of NEC, ANSI/IEEE, NFPA 70E is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel less than 30%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project engineer on design, study, and review assignments under a Lead Engineer.
• Prepare designs and equipment specs for electrical distribution projects from 480 V to 34.5 kV.
• Perform engineering calculations: short-circuit, grounding, and protection sizing.
• Conduct power system studies: arc-flash, load-flow, harmonics, power quality.
• Create one-line diagrams, grounding plans, and wiring diagrams.
• Support protection and control design and relay settings.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and vendors for integrated delivery.
• Assist with substation startup, commissioning, and document preparation.
• Develop scopes of work, execution plans, and bid evaluations.
