Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX seeks a Supplier Development Engineer for Power Electronics to drive end-to-end supplier development for power conversion modules, power supplies, and components within Starlink.

You will lead NPI/PPAP/FAI, qualification campaigns, and ramp activities, partnering with design, test, and production teams to meet high-volume production goals while applying Lean and Six Sigma methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or other engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of experience in power electronics, quality engineering, reliability engineering, or supplier development.
• Strong technical background in power conversion topologies, power semiconductors, magnetics, thermal management, EMI/EMC.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end supplier development for the power electronics and power conversion portfolio within Starlink: strategic supplier selection, NPI, qualification, ramp, and quality support.
• Engage early with suppliers on selection, equipment selection, and process engineering for high-volume manufacturing.
• Assess supplier capabilities, process controls, and readiness for high-volume production of power electronics (Si, SiC, GaN; ML, topologies).
• Lead NPI activities, PPAP, FAI, production ramps, and reliability campaigns for full-rate manufacturing.
• Develop qualification plans: power cycling, thermal validation, HALT, HASS, EMI/EMC compliance.
• Create and standardize qualification protocols: FAT, SAT, and reliability demonstrations.
• Drive supplier performance with Lean, scorecards, audits, and problem solving to improve quality, cost, and delivery.
• Perform RCA and corrective actions for quality issues on MOSFETs, GaN devices, capacitors, and thermals.
• Provide reactive quality engineering support: 8D, 5-Why, containment, and field data feedback to engineering teams.
• Own on-time delivery of qualification and ramp activities while monitoring field performance.
• Partner with Power Electronics Design, Test, and Production teams to align supplier processes with Starlink goals.
