Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Power Electronics and Energy Conversion Systems Researcher to advance inverter and power‑conversion technologies for export power, microgrid, and energy storage applications. The role emphasizes propulsion and non‑propulsion power systems, with collaboration across GM Energy and GM Defense and related teams.

The position requires a PhD in Electrical Engineering and a track record in power electronics research.

Qualifications

PhD in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power electronics.
Graduating between August 2026 and June 2027.
Willing to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, asylee or refugee).
Experience in power electronics, inverter or converter systems, or related power systems.
Strong fundamentals in circuit modeling, simulations, and control theory.

Responsibilities

Research, design, model, simulate, prototype, test, and demonstrate advanced inverter systems.
Define architectures for 10 kW to 100 kW+ export‑power and UPS applications.
Develop power‑conversion topologies for propulsion and non‑propulsion use cases.
Collaborate with GM Energy,Defense, and engineering teams across disciplines.
Prepare reports, present results, and participate in reviews.
