Job summary

Heron Power Inc. is seeking a skilled Power Electronics PCBA technician to support rapid prototyping, engineering builds and reworks.

This hands-on role leads the deployment of the R&D lab processes and drives assembly, test and troubleshooting of new products across the engineering lifecycle. Ideal candidates have proven experience in precise multi-layer PCBA rework, board bring-up support, and working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power analyzers.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on technical assembly, troubleshooting and diagnostic experience with complex PCBA and electronic assemblies.
• Experience in teardown, diagnostic and troubleshooting of complex manufactured assemblies.
• Familiarity with hand tools, automated equipment or both for manufacturing finished assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings for critical quality and assembly features.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle ambiguity and own change management through product iterations and experiments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., with frequent standing, walking and bending.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision rework of complex multi-layer PCBA's, including soldering and rework of fine-pitch components under microscope.
• Support prototype builds for engineering teams, including board bring-up assistance and functional verification testing.
• Use and maintain rework equipment including soldering irons, hot-air stations, microscopes and thermal tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop processes for prototype builds, test, failure mode identification and troubleshooting playbook.
• Document learnings and failure modes, analyze data and communicate to cross-functional teams to drive product changes.
