Job summary

Heron Power Inc. is seeking a Mechanical System Integration and Test Engineer to architect, design, build, and operate mechanical fixtures and test infrastructure for medium‑voltage power converters.

You will own end-to-end integration from architecture input to production readiness, driving reliability and test excellence. The role emphasizes hands‑on execution, interface management, and collaboration with the architecture team to ensure testability and manufacturability across the product

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar.
• 3+ years of full-time industry experience designing mechanical fixtures, test hardware, or electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD (bonus for CATIA V6/3DX).
• Experience designing fixtures or test setups for manufacturing, environmental sealing (IP ingress), or shock/vibration qualification.
• Experience with reliability modeling (physics-of-failure, accelerated lifetime testing, or degradation modeling).
• Experience developing instrumentation and DAQ strategies for long-duration testing.
• Experience defining and managing interfaces between mechanical and electrical subsystems.
• Comfortable running hands-on test execution on hardware you build.
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, release mechanical fixtures, wiring diagrams, automated HV connections for test stands.
• Design and build assembly fixtures for shock and vibration testing.
• Define interfaces between subsystems, including enclosures, busbars, and cable routing.
• Own the full test cycle for mechanical components: plan, fixture design, execution, data analysis, report-out.
• Lead failure analysis and translate findings into design changes.
