Heron Power in Scotts Valley, CA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and validate medium-voltage power electronics systems. You will own parts and assemblies from concept to high-volume production, applying first principles and hands-on prototyping.
Collaborate with electrical, test, and manufacturing teams, use CATIA V6/3DX for 3D drawings, and contribute to durable, manufacturable designs while working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Our first goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design, develop, and validate cutting-edge medium-voltage power electronics systems. You will design a wide range of associated parts and assemblies using a first principles design approach. Your role will involve performing a variety of tasks, including CAD, analysis, prototyping, testing, and hands‑on work. You will collaborate closely with electrical, test, and manufacturing engineering teams, as well as external suppliers. You will own your designs from concept through high‑volume production.

Heron Power provides competitive compensation (salary and equity) and benefits. The salary for this role ranges from $120,000 to $190,000 per year.
