Applied Physical Sciences seeks a Power Electronics Engineer to design and test high‑power systems for underwater maritime applications. The role emphasizes development of DC/DC/AC/DC power stages, high‑reliability power supplies, and interfaces to embedded controllers.

The candidate will contribute to EMC and system integration, with opportunities to work in a small, entrepreneurial team at APS, a General Dynamics subsidiary. DoD clearance eligibility is preferred and strongly encouraged.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power systems.
• BSEE and 4+ years of relevant experience or MSEE and 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with power system design including circuit analysis and simulation, component selection, schematic capture, PCB design, and verification testing.
• Design of DC/DC and AC/DC power systems ranging from 500 W to 50 kW for harsh environments.
• Experience with high availability power supplies and/or failover systems.
• Knowledge of MOSFETs, Schottky Diodes, SiC FETs, and IGBT’s.
• Experience with actuators, DC/DC converters, power amplifiers, and magnetics.
• Experience troubleshooting electronic systems.
• Basic Matlab data analysis.
• Experience in electronics assembly and related wiring/soldering.
• Proficiency with lab test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, probes).

Responsabilités

• Design, development, integration, and debugging of complex power electronics systems.
• Travel to support on-site testing up to 25%.
