Job summary

GRAM in El Segundo is seeking an electrical engineer to own power conversion, distribution, switching, protection, and measurement from architecture through released hardware. You will design motor-drive electronics and energy-storage interfaces for compact actuators and pulsed loads.

Join a hands-on team delivering validated power envelopes, EMI/thermal design, and robust fault handling. On-site collaboration spans schematic/layout review, bench bring-up, testing, and production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience releasing and bringing up switching converters, inverters, motor drives, or pulsed-power stages.
• Demonstrated command of MOSFET/GaN switching, gate-drive design, current sensing, protection, and thermal design.

Responsibilities

• Convert actuator, magnetic, compute, sensing, and mission duty cycles into power budgets and protection thresholds.
• Design and release switching power converters, motor-drive stages, gate drives, sensing circuits, protection networks, and power distribution.
• Model switching behavior, losses, magnetics, parasitics, control-loop stability, fault energy, and junction temperatures.
• Bring up hardware with oscilloscopes, probes, electronic loads, power analyzers, and thermal instrumentation.
• Diagnose failures involving overcurrent, shoot-through, saturation, ringing, grounding, EMI, thermal runaway, or interactions among loads and controls.
• Define drive and power interfaces across actuators, embedded control, energy sources, and machine safety systems.
• Carry designs through layout review, supplier fabrication, assembly, environmental test, manufacturing test, and revision release.
