Job description

Company Description

Wright Electric designs advanced power systems for demanding environments, including defense installations, AI data centers, and next-generation aircraft. Its products include the Wright Dynamo, a 30 kW expeditionary generator and microgrid hub, the DenseGen, a 5 MW turbine generator optimized for AI infrastructure, and the WM2500, an aerospace-grade electric motor delivering 2.5 MW of shaft power. These systems are engineered for rapid deployment, high power density, and direct integration with modern electrical and computing architectures. Developed in collaboration with organizations such as NASA, ARPA-E, and the U.S. Air Force, Wright Electric applies aerospace-grade engineering to applications where reliability and performance are critical.

Role Description

This is a senior-level engineering role focused heavily on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) within high-voltage power electronics. Acting as the technical authority on EMC, the engineer will drive the strategy, design, simulation, and testing of power converters to ensure strict compliance and optimal hardware performance.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead EMC design strategies for power converters, including requirements decomposition, design development, peer reviews, risk assessment, testing, and mitigations.
  • Develop electromagnetic models and analysis methods to predict coupling paths, resonances, common-mode and differential-mode behavior, shielding effectiveness, grounding performance, and conducted and radiated emissions.
  • Design, build, and test EMI filters with X-Y capacitors and CM & DM chokes for both CM & DM noises.
  • Support power converter hardware designs involving power modules, busbars, gate-drive circuits, PCBs, enclosures, shielding, grounding, cables, and connectors.
  • Lead the activities for external EMC tests, including test requirements, sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, scheduling, executing, and reviewing the test results.
  • Lead EMI issue root-cause investigations using measurement data, simulation, design-of-experiments, and engineering judgment by analysis of grounding, shielding, cable routing and connector locations.
  • Create reusable EMC guidelines, checklists, modeling practices, and lessons learned for future Power Electronics programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant hands‑on hardware experience with high‑voltage power electronics, AC/DC, DC/DC converters, and inverters; direct hands‑on experiences in EMI filter design
  • Strong expertise in EMC, including, high‑voltage AC conducted emissions and Radiated Emission compliance, Electromagnetic immunity/susceptibility, common‑mode and differential‑mode noise suppression, grounding, shielding, filtering, impedance, and signal/power integrity analysis.
  • Experience with EMC modeling, simulation, and the ability to correlate the simulation results and laboratory measurements.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k)
  • PTO and paid sick time

Salary: $120,000–$ 170,000 per year, based on experience
