Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an entry-level engineer to develop technical expertise in a defined specialty area, with the potential to work on non-critical projects under supervision. The role includes coordinating small projects, providing field oversight, and supporting the preparation of bid documents.

Salary ranges vary by level and experience within the organization. Starting at the Entry Engineer level, the position offers opportunities for growth to Staff, Senior, and Principal levels as skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum is required.
• Electrical engineering degree is preferred.
• EIT/FE certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform activities/assignments of limited scope.
• Supports development of technical documentation (designs, calculations, reports, standards).
• Provides ongoing technical support for project activities in Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, etc.
• Coordinates/leads projects or portions of projects under direction of higher level engineer or supervisor.
• Supports bid/evaluation processes by performing basic analysis and calculations on existing documentation and materials.
• Communicates effectively with other business areas and external customers/vendors.
• Mentors interns, drafters, technicians, and others; pursues continuous self-development of technical skills.

Education

ABET accredited engineering degree

Electrical engineering degree preferred

EIT/FE certification preferred
