Job summary

Entergy Louisiana in Baton Rouge seeks a Distribution Operator I, II, or Sr to ensure safe, reliable operation of the electric distribution system. You will direct switching, monitor conditions, and coordinate with field crews and control centers to restore power efficiently.

The role requires training and hands-on experience with SCADA, relays, substations, and system protection. You will work rotating shifts, respond to outages, and maintain accurate outage data and communications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years in a technical field or related military experience.
• A 2-year degree in a technical area, preferably electrical technology, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• A 4-year degree in a technical area, preferably engineering or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of operating instructions and safety procedures.
• Allocate and direct personnel for trouble work and outages; prioritize resources.
• Identify and help resolve technical, operational, and organizational challenges.
• Oversee after-hours call-out process, input outage data into OMS, provide updates.
• Troubleshoot and repair distribution system issues; support field responders during disturbances.
• Oversee switching, tagging, and clearance processes; manage field personnel via SCADA; approve planned switching procedures.
• Coordinate with Operations Center staff and other centers; maintain customer service during outages.
• Monitor distribution parameters in real time and take corrective actions.
• Initiate/work orders, respond to field inquiries, and update OMS for outage events.
• Provide information to Data Maintenance Support about updates and issues in OMS.
• Initiate and restore system emergencies, including load shedding and blackstart operations.
• Address Cyber Security assets and related responsibilities.
